Thankfulness

A compilation of resources to draw near to God in thankfulness and delight in him.

‘I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ.’

Philemon 1v20

Paul longed for his heart to be refreshed. The benefits of that may sometimes come through others, as we see here. But more than that, our hearts are to be refreshed in Christ.

One of the ways we want to help in that is providing exercises that might enable you to slow down and reflect on the Word. Use the questions as a prompt to help you engage with God in prayer. We hope this might be a tool that you can use to meditate on scripture and have your heart refreshed in Christ.

God bless you.

GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

Psalm 105

1 Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
3 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

  • Praise the Lord out loud. Choose some favourite songs that will lead you to praise him.
  • Remind yourself of the attributes of God ad his strength.

5 Remember the wonders he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
6 you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,
    his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
7 He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.

  • Recall what wonders you can remember God has done through his Word.
  • Recall the wonders he has done in your own life.
  • What judgements has he pronounced?
